Het oorspronkelijke project NICHE Vlaanderen (2002-2007) is tot stand gekomen op initiatief van de Provinciale en Intercommunale Drinkwatermaatschappij der Provincie Antwerpen (Pidpa), de Vlaamse Maatschappij voor Watervoorziening (VMW, nu De Watergroep), Samenwerking Vlaams Water (SVW, nu Aqua Flanders) en de Vlaamse Milieumaatschappij (VMM afdeling Water) en in samenwerking met het Agentschap voor Natuur en Bos (ANB) en Kiwa (nu KWR)

The original NICHE Flanders (2002-2007) project is an initiative of the Provincial and Intermunicipal Drinking Water Company of the Province of Antwerp (Pidpa - Provinciale en Intercommunale Drinkwatermaatschappij der Provincie Antwerpen), the Flemish Water Supply Company (VMW - Vlaamse Maatschappij voor Watervoorziening, now De Watergroep), the Flemish Water Cooperation (SVW -Samenwerking Vlaams Water, now Aqua Flanders) and Flanders Environment Agency (VMM Water Division), in collaboration with the Agency for Nature and Forests (ANB - Agentschap voor Natuur en Bos) and Kiwa (now KWR).
